Sidath Wethmuny, the chairman of the Cricket Committee of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board and a member of the Cricket Transformation Committee, has expressed his views after Sri Lanka's crushing defeat in the first Test match between the West Indies and Sri Lanka.
Sidath, who admires the West Indies fast bowling force, has said that the players reminded him of the great fast bowlers of the past.
Sidath Wethmuny, who calls bowlers Kemar Roach, Jaden Seals, Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph "truly excellent" bowlers, says that they reminded him of the way fast bowling giants of the early era such as Joel Garner, Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding and Andy Roberts bowled. He says that Sri Lanka had no answer to the West Indies' rapid attack.
Allthough Cricket Transformation Committee member Sidath Wethmuny praised the West Indies team, they has not shown sufficient performance in the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship. They have participated in 8 matches and lost seven of them. The caribian cricketers, which managed to complete one match without a dissision, has won only against Sri Lanka.

West Indies' Amir Jangu and Roston Chase put on a 401-run stand against Sri Lanka. Roston Chase scored 194 runs and Amir Jangu scored 233 runs. This is a world record for the 6th wicket.
