The Samagi Jana Balawegaya expresses its views on the arrest of Charith Abeysinghe, the Horana chief organizer of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.

Addressing a media briefing on the matter, former MP Buddhika Pathirana said that Charith Abeysinghe was arrested while his two-and-a-half-year-old triplets were at home. He said that arresting him in such a manner was unethical and disgusting.

Buddhika Pathirana said that Charith Abeysinghe is an artist and a journalist who has exposed the fraud and corruption of the current government, and that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya will not object to legal action being taken against Charith Abeysinghe and his group for any criminal or civil wrongdoing.

He also stressed that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya led by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa will never protect the guilty, and that even a member of the party who has violated the law should face an independent judicial process.

Meanwhile, responding to a question raised by journalists on whether Charith Abeysinghe's party membership would be banned, Buddhika Pathirana said that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya is not a party that hears jungle cases or makes decisions in a kangaroo court system.

He further stated that the party's Management Committee, Working Committee and Disciplinary Committee will meet collectively, monitor the progress of the legal investigations and announce formal decisions in the future.
