According to the latest reports released by the National Dengue Control Unit, the total number of dengue patients identified so far in 2026 has increased to 91,059. The number of deaths has also increased to 68.
52.98% of the total number of patients reported (48,244 patients) have been identified from the Western Province, and the Gampaha District has been the most affected at the district level. 19,406 patients have been reported there, which is 21.31% of the total number of patients.
18,101 patients (19.88%) have been identified from the Colombo District and 6,491 patients (7.13%) have been identified from the Kandy District.
Also, the highest number of patients has been reported in July, which is 29,971.
Meanwhile, 5,714 cases have been identified in the first 10 days of August. 119 Medical Officer of Health areas have been further designated as dengue high-risk zones by the health authorities.
