The Association of Specialist Doctors (AMS) is concerned about the false, malicious and defamatory propaganda being spread on social media targeting specialists and medical professionals.
While the association recognizes constructive criticism and public accountability as essential elements of a democratic society, the association emphasizes that it does not condone personal attacks and deliberate defamatory statements directed at doctors.
They point out that such actions not only damage the professional dignity of the doctors concerned, but also erode the trust that patients have in doctors and the entire health system.
The association stated in a statement that the relationship between a doctor and a patient is based on mutual trust and respect, and that baseless social media advertisements may discourage patients from seeking medical treatment on time, thereby jeopardizing the quality and safety of healthcare services.
The Association of Specialist Doctors states that it will take strict action against individuals or organizations that act in a manner that insults specialists or members of its association, and that it will not hesitate to take legal action when necessary to protect the dignity of its members.
However, the association states that its association recognizes the right of patients or the public to present their legitimate concerns regarding healthcare within a legal and institutional framework, and that such complaints should be resolved through a transparent and formal process.
