The annual honey offering performed by the vedhdha people for the Tooth Relic was performed according to ancient rituals at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy today (23). This offering is held in conjunction with the Senkadagala Esala Perahera and is performed in the morning on the day the first Randoli Perahera is touring the streets.

Accordingly, a group of vedhdha people consisting of ninety-five members led by vedhdha leader Vanaspathi Uruwarige Vannilatthan participated in this honey offering.

Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela welcomed the vedhdha people at the Sri Dalada Maligawa and then the honey offering was performed for the Tooth Relic. Following the puja, the Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa presented gifts to the group as a token of gratitude for the hospitality rendered by the indigenous people.

Following this traditional puja, the vedhdha leader and the main group of people are scheduled to participate in the first Randoli Perahera.
