It is reported that a Sri Lankan delegation is scheduled to leave for Saudi Arabia tomorrow to look into matters regarding the filing of an appeal before the country's Supreme Court on behalf of Sivarasa Anojan, who has been sentenced to death there.

The delegation comprises five members, including Member of Parliament and Attorney-at-Law Faiszer Musthapha, President's Counsel Upul Kumarapperuma, and an official from the Attorney General's Department.

Sivarasa Anojan has currently been sentenced to death by the Court of Appeal in Saudi Arabia; however, it is noted that there is a possibility of lodging an appeal against this verdict with the country's Supreme Court.

Accordingly, MP Faiszer Musthapha stated that they would hold discussions with lawyers in Saudi Arabia regarding the relevant legal measures and take steps to file the appeal in accordance with the proper procedure.
