It is reported that doctors at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital have temporarily stopped prescribing external drugs to patients.
Hospital sources say that this situation will remain in effect until the Ministry of Health officially issues new criteria for obtaining external drugs.
This situation has reportedly arisen after the remand of Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital specialist Dr. Maheshi Wijeratne. Doctors say that doctors face legal problems regarding the issuance of external drugs, and that they are even at risk of imprisonment. Therefore, they say that the Ministry of Health should take responsibility in this regard and do justice to patients.
