Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that he hopes to launch a military operation in eastern Ukraine.At the same time, it is reported that Russian rockets have been fired at Ukraine.
Video footage of Russian troops landing in Ukraine by parachute amid Russian rocket attacks is still being circulated internationally.
But the Russian president has stated that the operation is not aimed at capturing Ukraine, but that his aim is to disarm the militants there.
More than 200,000 Russian troops have now arrived at the Ukrainian border and are reportedly due to enter Ukraine on Putin's orders.
The conflict stems from a Western proposal to grant NATO membership to the UK and Russia's opposition to it.
Several European countries, including the United States, have already imposed sanctions on Russia.
