Public Security Ministry Secretary and retired Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne pleaded guilty in court today to one of the charges in the road accident case filed against him.

He has pleaded guilty to the charge of ‘failing to prevent a road accident’ in the case filed in connection with a road accident that occurred on the Wellawatte Marine Drive in 2023. Subsequently, Mount Lavinia Magistrate Kanchana Neranjala Silva reportedly imposed a fine of Rs. 2,500 on him.

Two charges of reckless driving and drunk driving have been filed in this case, and the magistrate ordered the case to be recalled on August 20th to decide on how to proceed with further legal action regarding those charges.
