President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has expressed his satisfaction regarding the decision by the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia to overturn the death sentence imposed on Sri Lankan national Anojan Sivarasa.
In a statement, the President noted that this decision has brought great relief to Sivarasa, his family, and the Sri Lankan public, who had been following the case with close attention.
The President stated that this outcome reflects patient diplomacy, respect for the legal processes of a friendly nation, and the persistent efforts of those who advocated on behalf of the Sri Lankan national.
Expressing his appreciation to the Government of Saudi Arabia regarding this decision, the President also extended his gratitude to the diplomats, government officials, and legal teams from both Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. Furthermore, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has given assurances that the Government of Sri Lanka will continue to provide all necessary support to Sivarasa and his family until the ongoing legal proceedings are concluded.
