A police officer was injured and hospitalized after a firearm accidentally went off at Ambalangoda police station this afternoon (24). The injured person is a constable who had come to report for duty.
The constable was checking his firearm after reporting for duty when the firearm suddenly went off. It is reported that he was shot in one of his legs.
He is currently receiving treatment at the Balapitiya Hospital. It is reported that his condition is not serious.
