Police sources say that the police constable who sat on the lap of a female police constable of the Makulugaswewa Police Station on the 15th has been suspended, police sources say.
The police constable, who was deployed for duty for a musical event held at the Dambulla Gamudawa Stadium, attempted to sit on the lap of a female police officer who was sitting on a chair there when he arrived at the Makulugaswewa Police Station. The constable was drunk at the time.
The women constable subsequently took steps to complain about the incident to the Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of the area through the OIC.
Accordingly, following an investigation into the attempted assault on a women police constable and his drunkenness on duty, the Assistant Superintendent of Police has decided to suspend the police constable and conduct an investigation.
