Yum! Brands, a world-famous brand in the fast food market, has decided to sell its extremely popular Pizza Hut brand for 2 billion pounds. It is reported that the decision was made due to the severe financial crisis and falling profits that Pizza Hut has faced in the past.

Pizza Hut is to be divided into two parts. Accordingly, all operations outside China will be purchased by a private company called LongRange Capital for 1.5 billion dollars. Operations in China are to be purchased by Yum China Holdings for 1.2 billion dollars.

In the face of economic inflation that many countries in the world are facing, consumers are looking for cheaper alternatives as a major reason for Pizza Hut’s decline. International media also say that the entry of rival companies such as Domino’s, Papa John’s, and Little Caesars and many smaller companies into the pizza market with higher discounts on pizza accelerated Pizza Hut’s decline.

In addition, third-party food delivery apps like Uber Eats and DoorDash have added thousands of new options to the market, and Pizza Hut's monopoly has been broken by the fact that remote producers are selling through these apps without having to visit consumers.

Pizza Hut, which started in 1958 with a brilliant idea by two brothers in Kansas, was purchased by PepsiCo in 1977, and then in 1997 it came under the control of Yum! Brands. The sale is scheduled to be fully completed by the third quarter of 2026.
