Omalpe Sohitha Thero says that if the Penal Code Amendment Bill is passed, the future generation will be orphaned.

If the bill is passed, a police checkpoint will have to be opened in every school, and therefore it should be dismantled immediately, the Thero says. If the government does not do so, no one will be able to stop the coming struggle, the Thero said. The Thero said this while addressing a media conference held at the Sri Bodhirajarama Viharaya in Embilipitiya.

Expressing further views, the Thero also said:

‘The Prime Minister says that this bill is not a bill targeting school children and teachers. It is true. It is not only school children who are raised in Pirivenas and children who are raised in orphanages, but also education. That is the problem we have. If the bill is passed, the guardians of every child will have to act under the children.

Therefore, that immoral law that is making future generations wild must be withdrawn immediately. It has not been withdrawn yet. Their hope is to get the Thero Seeruwe bill passed. Therefore, this bill must be defeated. If the Prime Minister does not take into account our culture, our civilization, and our traditions, the people of the country will only trust President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The Maha Thero should also explain the reality of this to the President.
