Chandimal Jayasinghe, the National Director of the Mrs world pageant says that it has been decided to give the Mrs Srilanka crown of 2020 to Pushpika de Silva again. He says the reason is that he has not received any documentary evidence that Pushpika Silva is divorced. He also emphasizes that snatching her crown should not be done.
Pushpika Silva has lodged a complaint with the Cinnamon Gardens Police regarding this incident
Although the police try to obtained a statement in this regard from Caroline Jury it is reported that she could not be contacted. Veteran beautician Chandimal Jayasinghe, the national director of the Mrs Srilanka Pageant, says she misses the phone. He also says that the conduct of the Caroline Jury is a serious damage to the image of the country.
An audio recording of a telephone conversation between Pushpika Silva and Chandimal Jayasinghe regarding this incident has been released to the media. Chandimal Jayasinghe says that the Mrs srilanka was forcibly taken away by the Caroline Jury and handed over to 2nd runner-up due to a personal resentment that Pushpika de Silva would be the Miss World
It is reported that Pushpika de Silva has been admitted to hospital due to head injuries sustained during the remoovel oh her crown forcibly. She was also crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2011.
