Nadeeka Daya Bandara - Kandy
Marking the conclusion of the historic Esala Perahera in Kandy, Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela presented a message indicating the successful completion of the Perahera to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday.
After the Perahera concluded in the afternoon and the Sadhathuka Perahera casket was placed at the Sri Dalada Maligawa, the message was presented to the President in the presence of the Diyawadana Nilame, who arrived at the Presidential Palace in Kandy in a procession accompanied by Panchaturas, along with the Basnayaka Nilames of the four major temples.
After posing for the official group photo with the President, the Presidential Awards were presented under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in recognition of the outstanding, excellent and talented artists who contributed to the Esala Perahera.
The Governor of the Central Province, Specialist Dr. Suranga Fernando, the Secretary to the President, Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, the Mayor of Kandy Chandrasiri Wijenayake and the Kandy District Secretary, Indika Udawatte, among others, attended the event.
