A meeting between Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who is in Sri Lanka, and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasooriya was held at the Parliament premises today (09).
The Prime Minister expressed her deep gratitude for the continuous support provided by the Government of India to Sri Lanka in the face of national difficulties as well as the catastrophic conditions caused by Cyclone 'Ditwa'.
The Prime Minister also appreciated the "Operation Sagar Bandhu" launched by the Indian government under the humanitarian and disaster relief services.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the relationship between Sri Lanka and India is a long-standing friendship that goes beyond diplomatic and economic cooperation and is nourished by cultural, historical and religious ties.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of expanding regional cooperation, especially in the fields of tourism and education. Several MoUs were also signed during the visit.
