An investigation has been initiated by the IGP into the incident in which a person was brutally assaulted inside the Ambalangoda police station for allegedly not having an identity card. The Ambalangoda police are facing serious criticism after a video allegedly related to this incident circulated on social media.
The elderly man identified as the father in the video has been arrested by the Ambalangoda Police for allegedly wandering around the road in an indecent manner while drunk on the night of the 24th, the police say.
The suspect tried to escape from the police officers during the arrest, and he fell and sustained injuries, and blood is seen in the video.
