The Indian team suffered a defeat in the ODI between India A and Sri Lanka A held in Dambulla yesterday.

15-year-old Indian youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got into a heated exchange of words with Sri Lanka 'A' bowler Kagudas Mathulan, which was eventually seen by senior player Niroshan Dickwella to intervene and defuse the situation.

The tense situation arose after India 'A' lost the crucial match that went to the Super Over.

India needed 17 runs to win the match in the super over, and Sri Lanka 'A' fast bowler Kagudas Mathulan restricted India to 9 runs in that over. Suriyawanshi, who faced the last three balls of the over, could only score 6 runs, including one four.

As the match ended, the Sri Lankan players began to celebrate the victory and Suriyawanshi, who was returning to the stadium, made some statements targeting the Sri Lankan players. He rushed towards Sri Lankan bowler Kugudas Mathulan and as the argument that ensued escalated, Suriyawanshi was caught on video pushing a Sri Lankan player.

Earlier, Indian captain Tilak Verma had a heated 10-minute argument with the umpires at the end of the match, claiming that there was no legal provision for a super over. Suriyawanshi also came to argue with the umpires, but was sent back by the Indian head coach.

It has not yet been announced whether the players will be formally punished for this undisciplined behaviour or will be given a warning and released.
