The Department of Meteorology states that showers or thundershowers may occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces after 2.00 pm.
It is also stated that moderately strong winds of about 30-40 kmph may occur in the western slopes of the Central Highlands, the Northern, North-Central, North-Western and Southern provinces and the Trincomalee district.
The Department of Meteorology urges the public to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
