Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leading lawyer Udaya Prabath Gammanpila expresses his views on the government's attempt to extend the retirement age of judges through the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution.

He points out that the Chief Justice has not used the five most senior judges of the Supreme Court to hear the petitions against the 22nd Amendment, rejecting the government's argument that the 22nd Amendment is being brought in to secure the services of experienced judges for judicial work.

Pointing out that the judges in positions 2, 3, 4, and 5 in seniority after the Chief Justice have been removed from this task, and the youngest judge has been added to the bench, he stated that this decision of the Chief Justice makes it clear that the seniority of the judge is not very important in a trial.
