Former Navy Commander Ravindra Wijegunaratne, who is accused of aiding and abetting a suspect in the 2008 abduction and disappearance of 11 youths in and around Colombo, appeared before the court today.

The relevant charge sheet was presented to him and he pleaded not guilty. Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena subsequently ordered his release on two surety bonds of Rs. 1 million each.

The case is scheduled to be taken up again on December 9th for hearing.
