The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) states that Sri Lanka’s total export revenue for the first nine months of this year has risen to US$ 13,612 million. Mangala Wijesinghe, Chairman of the EDB, disclosed this while speaking at a press conference held at the Department of Government Information.

Accordingly, during the period from January to September, the country generated US$ 10,761 million from the export of merchandise and US$ 2,850 million from the export of services.

Furthermore, the Chairman pointed out that in September 2026 for the first time in history the country’s total export revenue reached US$ 1,691 million, representing a 17.2% growth compared to September 2025. In September, merchandise exports generated an income of US$ 1,385 million, representing a 21.6% growth compared to the same month in the previous year.

Furthermore, the Chairman stated that an income of US$ 306 million was earned from the export of services.

He pointed out that Sri Lanka achieved these figures despite the ongoing crisis in the Middle East—a situation that has caused further difficulties for the country's exporters.
