The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) states that the government should take steps to introduce a fair and equitable tax policy for professionals, including doctors.

The association notes that it has submitted several scientific and analytical proposals to the President regarding the upcoming budget, aimed at implementing a fair tax policy for professionals—including doctors—without adversely affecting total government tax revenue.

The GMOA points out that the government generated over Rs. 5,400 billion in tax revenue last year, marking the highest tax revenue recorded in the country's history.

Furthermore, they have highlighted that despite certain amendments and relief measures introduced to the Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) tax system, revenue from this tax in 2025 has exceeded expectations by more than 30 percent. The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) points out that professionals, including doctors, are facing severe economic pressure because, under the current tax system, they are required to pay nearly 36% of their salaries as direct taxes, in addition to substantial amounts in indirect taxes.

The association emphasized the need to implement a sustainable and strategic plan to retain the country's valuable human resources and expertise, expressing confidence that the government would give due consideration to their proposals
