Dilith Jayaweera, Member of Parliament and leader of 'Sarvajana Balaya', stated that there have been long-standing allegations that the current government is acting unfairly toward Buddhism. He made these remarks while commenting on the court's ruling regarding an appeal filed against the presidential pardon previously granted to Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero.
MP Dilith Jayaweera noted that the court's verdict indicates there is an opportunity to rectify administrative shortcomings and properly grant a presidential pardon to Gnanasara Thero once again.
He further emphasized that this issue could be resolved if the President by exercising his vested powers appropriately and correcting the prior administrative errors—grants a presidential pardon to Gnanasara Thero in a legally valid manner.
