Trade unions of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) are reportedly preparing to hold a massive protest in Colombo next week. The aim is to draw the government’s attention to the prejudice caused to the board and its employees due to the new Electricity Amendment Bill.

Trade union leaders recently held a special discussion in Colombo, where they emphasized that the government’s actions and the proposed amendment bill will seriously affect CEB as well as its employees.

During this discussion, it was decided to hold a massive protest in front of the CEB head office next week with the aim of pressuring the government to resolve the existing issues.
