A clash has broken out between a group of Chinese nationals near the Hanging bridge in Colombo Port City. Following the clash, three Chinese nationals has been reported to have been abducted.
Three Chinese nationals arrived at the Port City premises at around 11:00 last night and were fishing from the Hanging bridge. Later, at around 2:00 this morning, another group of 15 Chinese nationals arrived there in a luxury KDH van. The group, which parked the vehicle at the Port City parking lot and came towards the bridge, attacked the three Chinese nationals who were fishing and then abducted them.
It is reported that two of the three abducted Chinese nationals have been dumped at a nearby location and there is no information yet about the other Chinese national. Meanwhile, it is reported that a body suspected to be that of a Chinese national has been found in a forest area in Karandana in the Ratnapura district. The police are investigating whether the blindfolded body is that of the Chinese national who was abducted this morning.
The KDH van used in the kidnapping had been abandoned not far from the scene of the incident, and upon inspecting the vehicle, the police were able to find a foreign-made revolver-type firearm inside.
