The actress queen of Sri Lankan cinema, Malini Senehelatha Fonseka, passed away this morning.
She was 78 years old when she passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Colombo due to an illness. Born on April 30, 1947 in Kelaniya, she was educated at St. John's College, Nugegoda and Kelaniya Gurukula College.
She started her acting career as a stage actress and entered the cinema by acting in the film ''Punchi Baba''. She has received numerous awards including university awards and entered the directorial role by directing the film ''Sasara Chethana''.
