For the first time in Sri Lanka's history, the inauguration ceremony of the production of a high-tech amphibious vessel that can operate both on land and at sea and its export to Europe was held today (10) at the Koggala Free Trade Zone. The vessel was manufactured by 'Ocean Voyager International'.

Speaking at the ceremony held under the patronage of the Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Sunil Handunnetti, the Minister stated that the government's top priority is to make the domestic manufacturing economy, which has so far been limited to talk, a practical success.

The boat and shipbuilding industry has been identified as a leading sector that can earn the largest amount of foreign exchange in the short term for Sri Lanka, which is located in the middle of the world's major shipping routes.

The Minister further emphasized that all the necessary facilities and full support of the government will be provided to make Sri Lanka the naval manufacturing center of the region with the contribution of local engineers and workers.
