Two employees of a liquor smuggler were arrested by the police in Kindelpitiya, Bandaragama, along with a stock of illegal liquor brought from Wennappuwa using a rented luxury car.

The two suspects who were arrested were also taken into police custody along with 27,000 milliliters of illegal liquor worth about Rs. 1 million and the car used for transportation. The police say that this stock of liquor was packed in eight polysacks.

According to information received by a police constable of the Western Province Intelligence Division, when this car was stopped and inspected, I was able to find the stock of liquor. Police sources say that during the interrogation of the arrested suspects, it has been revealed that this liquor belongs to a liquor smuggler named 'Chala' in the Hirana Police Division.

The two suspects arrested are residents of Galthude and Hirana areas in Panadura. The two suspects were declared innocent after being produced before the Panadura court, and the case is scheduled to be taken up again.
