The government is working to establish a network of day care and therapeutic care centers for children suffering from autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders throughout the island.

This program, which is being implemented on the instructions of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, is being organized by integrating the Ministries of Health, Education and Social Services under the full supervision of the Presidential Secretariat.

In a special discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat, Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake has instructed officials to prepare and submit a detailed concept proposal for this within two weeks.

A provision of Rs. 250 million has been allocated for this project through the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, and the financial allocation is to be decentralized at the District Secretariat level.
