A group of school students, including nearly 15 others, were injured and hospitalized in an accident that occurred this morning (27) when a private bus and a small lorry collided head-on near the Ingiriya Christ Church on the Panadura - Ratnapura road, police sources said.
A group of school students traveling in the lorry were also injured in the accident. The driver and assistant of the small lorry were among the injured. After they were admitted to the Ingiriya District Hospital, a spokesperson for the Ingiriya Hospital said that several school students, including the lorry driver's assistant, who were in a serious condition, were transferred to the Horana Base Hospital for further treatment.
Residents of the area say that many road accidents have occurred on this stretch of road before.
