Three trade unions attached to the Sri Lanka Customs have decided to resort to sick leave on the 4th and 5th of October.
Co Secretary of the Customs Officers Association Sameera Wickramasingha said union action will be launched, requesting officials to provide prompt solutions to salary anomalies that were unresolved over an extended period.
The Secretary noted despite acknowledging salary the issue of salary anomalies, they are following a policy of ignorance.
He stressed the Customs Staff Officers Union together with the Customs Superintendents Union and the Customs Officers Union will join the trade union action.
The Secretary meanwhile reiterated that inspection procedures at airports and ports will face disruptions owing to the protest.
He said the Association will resort to trade union action under several stages until a prompt solution is provided for salary anomalies.
