Renal disease specialist Dr. Anupama de Silva made a serious revelation about kidney patients in the country. Accordingly, she says that about 10% of the adult population in the country suffers from kidney disease. She also mentioned that there may be a larger number of patients in the country than the number of patients currently identified.
The doctor said that the main cause of kidney disease is diabetes and pointed out that the highest number of diabetes patients is reported from this country compared to other Asian countries.
She said that it is 25% as a percentage and that diabetes can be caused by not controlling it properly.
The doctor pointed out that the number of kidney patients currently reported from about 10% could increase to 25% in the future and warned that it could go up to 30%-40%.
